Sorry it’s been a while since I last posted, but I felt I needed a break from all things Cancer for a while.
Anyway looking back on my posts, last time I posted I was still in Jhb. At end of November I was given the clearance to return to Durban. Back in Durban I have been trying to be good, with much to do for work and around the house, and the kids on holiday, I’ve been itching to get going. In fact the worst problem is that whilst doing nothing I feel great, only when I start chasing after kids or doing to much does my body tell me to slow down, it’s going to be a long road to full fitness…..
I’m seeing Leon (my Durban oncologist) monthly and just had my last appointment 2 days ago. Here I raised that i was feeling a bit out of breath lately (something that I’ve been trying to ignore, as my mind immediately goes to the worst). Leon was a bit concerned that I may have a blood clot in the lungs (apparently can be quite common) and also started asking me questions about cancer symptoms etc…… this got me very nervous.
To be on the safe side he sent me for a chest CT, (nerves through the roof during the waiting period), but good news is that the CT was clear and the out of breath was due to a bit of a lung infection, so I was given more antibiotics.
Last week I started going back to work, a day here or there as need be and I’ll slowly re-introduce myself with a view to be full time in March.
Anyway I’m looking forward to the kids going back to school on Wednesday, maybe now I’ll get a chance to rest properly.
